Accounts Payable/Accounting Assistant

Evelo Biosciences is pioneering the development of therapies designed to act on the gut-body network – monoclonal microbials. Monoclonal microbials use naturally evolved pharmacology to work in the gut for effects throughout the body and comprise an entirely new class of effective, convenient and safe medicines to address the unmet needs of huge numbers of patients with serious diseases. As a member of the Evelo team, you will play a vital role in creating this new modality of medicine.

We are seeking an Accounts Payable/Accounting Assistant who is interested in joining a highly dynamic and intellectually challenging team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining our payable information as well as supporting our accounting team.

Primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Completes payments and controls expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
  • Assign invoices to the proper cost centers
  • Work with vendors to resolve past due invoices and reconcile monthly statements with vendors
  • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
  • Process check requests
  • Respond to all vendor inquiries
  • Assist in month end closing
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
  • Assist with other projects as needed
  • Secondary support of accounting team

Desired education, experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in accounts payable
  • Ability to use Microsoft productivity software such as Excel and Word
  • Familiarity with Accounting Software.
  • Highly collaborative
  • Self-starter
